Anneke's Altar (assemblage, photo behind acrilic glass) shows an image of a woman who does not exactly meets the current beauty-culture. A fertility image with an aureole-like smaal crown.
Around her small objects from daily live, found objects.
It reminds of the altars, dedicated to a saint that can be found at special places in Europe and abroad.
But also of these improvised places of memory that spontaneously are set up at spots locations where someone died in accident.
Also two reflectting balls where in the surroundings are reflected. Like a mirror for those who come and maybe bring another object. Or for the world that passes by. Or for the worls that passes befor Anneke.
Mirror of men and women that come, see, pass by.
These men and women will see a distorted image of themselves, reflected in these balls. Do they give an image of their souls? Of the future, personal or more general? Can we see the future in Anneke's balls?
We are living in times of great chaos and changes. Maybe Anneke shows ur a glimps of an uncertain but unavoidably changing future. If we dare to look in Anneke's balls.
