The Enclosed Garden is an inspiring theme; The seclusion makes free passage difficult. Should the protection of this "Enclosed Garden" be seen from the inside or from the outside? How desirable or undesirable is the seclusion? Does it exclude the person who wants to go in? Or maybe it keeps the one trapped inside?
THE GATEKEEPER contains a contradiction. A small room of soft tactile material with an old rusty key hanging inside.
What does this old rusty object give access to? It seems to have been unused for an improbably long time.
The contrast is great between the softness of the space built from sheep's wool, and the hardness of the rusted metal key. Is the appearance of that soft space 'hardened' by the cold metal? Or does it work the other way around; Is the hard metal of the key 'softened' by the material of the surrounding space? And what does this say about the 'Enclosed Garden' to which this key gives access?
