In-Situ installation in the "moulin à couleurs" of Malicorne-sur-Sarthe

In this mill, people used to prepare colours for pottery and earthenware that made Malicorne-sur-Sarthe famous. This historical fact inspired me to create the installation you may see here.

Imagine that you have just entered a workshop. The workshop of someone who is trying to create different colours.

He has gathered all kinds of materials, carefully selected them, and stored them in jars, bottles, and bowls. At a small table, he is researching the possibilities offered by various materials to make colours.

He hopes, through various experiments, to create the ultimate colour. The sparkling, deep, and durable colour. The colour that will amaze everyone and that everyone will want to use.

You can already see several of his discoveries. He is exploring the effect of water, was, and chalk in different colours.

Apart from working on the creation and processing of different colours, the alchemist also experiments with shapes;

what if the different parts of the mill were not made of stone or wood, but of textiles? Would the colours thus created also be softer?

You can see a number of his experiments, insired by the parts of the mill's mechanism.

Please do watch the video to get an impression of the complete installation.
